Bach Flowers

What are Bach Flower Essences?
Bach Flower Essences are homeopathically prepared essences from 37 flowers (and one from a pure spring untainted by human activity) which impart their ‘signature’ into the water. This signature or essence is what gives the individual remedies their powerful healing ability. The essences were created by Dr Edward Bach, a London Harley Street Physician who specialised in bacteriology and later homeopathy. The creation of these essences were his life’s work. They are a complete system of healing, and work on the premise that illness is first in our mind before it manifests in our body. Treatment of the mind is therefore an important step in the prevention of disease and the stimulation of wellbeing. Dr Bach believed that if a person did not feel ‘themselves’ then they could be brought back to balance with one or more of his Bach Flower Essences.

Probably the most important and well known of these essences is Rescue Remedy. This wonderful and popular remedy is actually a combination of 5 of the individual flower essences; Impatiens, Clematis, Star of Bethlehem, Cherry Plum and Rock Rose. This blend was Dr Bach’s emergency blend which he used over and over as accidents and incidents occurred. We can use this daily in our lives as the first port of call when we are scared, upset, terrified, suddenly ill, shocked – the list of suitable circumstances for the use of rescue Remedy goes on…

Helping ourselves to overcome our negative states of mind and therefore illnesses was Dr Bach’s main focus with this work. It is not possible to know these essences really well straight away however, and that is where the services of a Bach Foundation Registered Practitioner can help. Eventually you will come to know a few of the remedies very well and you will find yourself coming back to them time and time again.  It is advisable to take these favourite remedies every time you are thinking about taking Bach Flower Essences. The other essences can be chosen for the negative states of mind you are experiencing at the time, or for the positive states you want to create. All Bach Foundation Registered Practitioners have been trained to the same exacting standards so you should use this registration as the  ‘stamp of approval’ for your practitioner.
